HOW THE BUSINESS DIRECTORY WORKS

INTRODUCTION
Welcome to First Unitarian Church’s Business and Services Directory.  We encourage you to refer to this directory whenever you might turn to Google or to your local yellow pages.

Have you ever been in need of an electrician, hairstylist, or home computer consultant but didn’t know where to start?

First Unitarian has put together a Business & Services Directory to be available for all members and the local community. The purpose of this Directory is to provide information about members who offer a particular product or service. For example, if a member is in need of a caterer or babysitter, tax/investment planner or plumber, the Directory is a ready resource to find a provider who is also a member or friend of First U.

HOW TO USE
The First Unitarian Business Directory showcases the various services offered by members and friends of First U.  Once on the Directory web page, choose how you would like to have the Business listings arranged: by Business category, or Alphabetical by Business name, and then browse to find the listings of interest. Links to each business's web site are shown where applicable.

GET LISTED!
We invite you to make a contribution to the church and in return receive a listing in our Business Directory. For donations in the $100-$500 range, your listing includes a link to your web site which is not only a convenience for the viewer to easily get to your website, but more importantly it increases your SEO rankings (Google search engine popularity) , which is well worth the expenditure.

ADVERTISING EFFECTIVENESS

Nearly 75% of small, medium and large businesses and organizations are spending a lot less this year on newspapers, magazines, direct mail and other traditional advertising channels, so they can increase spending on online ads, studies show.

The cause for the large and immediate shift is the change in consumer behavior, according to Forrester Research Inc. An increasing number of consumers are using the World Wide Web to get news, sports and entertainment reports and to buy products and services in enormous numbers. Churchgoers are accessing the internet daily to get information and interact with their church organizations like never before.

Online consumers today spend nearly 40% of their time online, either at home or at work. "In trying to reach consumers through the medium that they use, businesses are focusing a lot more on the online channel," says Forrester.

In addition, businesses can measure the effectiveness of e-mail campaigns, banner ads and search marketing better than ads on traditional channels. Online ads can also be interactive, which can increase their return by requiring a consumer to get actively involved in a promotion.
